Client Stories

Our clients are in business and they are no easy sell. They take a lot of convincing, so they test first and they take their time.  Once convinced they become our best salesmen.  We are proud of their support and thank them.

Tropic Star Lodge

Tropic Star Lodge is one of our most appreciative clients.  All diesel equipment is fitted from the day it is bought. But it wasn't always that way.  Tropic Star at the outset was a hard sell.

This world famous fishing lodge on the Pacific coast of the Darien, is remote and had a constant problem with contaminated diesel.

Fuel has to be shipped in across the Bay of Panama and this exposed it to fuel contamination.  To keep its fishing launches in top condition, it faced rebuilds every 3000 hours and searched for a solution to the contamination that plagued fuel storage.

That changed, when they fitted DE-BUG units on their fishing launches and generators.

Tropic Star's three testimonials:   Initial savings, fleet savings and engine hours.

Empresas Melo S.A.

The Melo group like most of our customers is very cautious.  Separately, two Melo companies tested our units.  One on the generator of a chicken farm and the other on a company vehicle, which was smoking and due for replacement.  When we caught up with them, the engineers were surprised by the results.

  • The John Deere generator on the chicken farm at Cerro Azul was running trouble free. It was the only generator at the farm without a problem.
  • The smoking truck was smoke free and the only vehicle in the fleet still running.  All the others had been replaced.

Melo's bought the test units and Empresa Melo is fitting units on one of their fleets of delivery vehicles.

Panama's Private Ports

Manzanillo International Terminals: Stevedores of America

Short injector life on ship to shore cranes was a problem at MIT - one of Latin America's busiest ports.

The Hyundai Ship to Shore cranes equipped with 3516 Caterpillar engines were changing injectors every three months. The problem was traced to diesel contamination in the tanks of the cranes, which were operating in severe tropical conditions.

The crane division equipped:

  • each of its 10 Ship to Shore Cranes with three DE-BUG L1000 Diesel Purifiers in parallel for each engine. The injector problem has been corrected.
  • 5 Clean Diesel Fuel Systems, which automatically clean the diesel tanks, are mounted on the tanks to maintain the diesel in top condition. These are fitted with a strainer, small pump and two L1000 DE-BUG units back to back.
  • An RTG [Rubber Tyre Gantry] suffered from diesel contamination in another division of the Port. When a DE-BUG L1000 was fitted, the problem was corrected.

MIT wrote this testimonial.

Panama Ports: Hutchinson Whampoa

Panama Ports’ Pacific side port started buying DE-BUG slowly. They wanted to make sure, that they worked and were an effective maintenance tool.  Now they are convinced. The engineers are satisfied that they live up to their claims.

  • All 6 RTG container cranes with Cummins engines in Balboa are now fitted with DE-BUG L1000 Diesel Purifiers to ensure engine protection.
  • On our last visit, they advised they are fitting more equipment.

PANAMA CANAL

Panama Canal engineers, before the Canal passed to Panamanian administration, installed DE-BUG diesel purifiers on some essential equipment to ensure minimum maintenance problems for its new owners.

  • TITAN - Once the largest floating crane in the world, and of considerable historic interest, suffered serious emissions problems from the time the Canal took delivery of it in Long Beach, California. Severe restrictions were imposed on its delivery crew by California's Environmental Protection Authority.

The crane engines could only be started with special permission because the old EMD engines emitted clouds of black smoke. Once in Panama, the engines were rebuilt, but the problem of black smoke persisted and the engines also suffered from blow-by.

Four DE-BUG L1000 Diesel Purifiers were fitted - two to each engine.  The Crane now operates with no smoke. The problem of blow-by was also corrected.

  • OCEANUS - the Canal Buoy Tender: DE-BUG diesel purifiers were fitted on all diesel equipment - generator sets, engines and crane. Altogether, the vessel is fitted with 6 DE-BUG L1000 Diesel Purifiers. Engineers report that this vessel has no problems. The DE-BUG units provide trouble-free running.
  • CANAL LAUNCHES at Miraflores and Gamboa: Thirty of the canal's launches, powered by Detroit Diesel, have been fitted with DE-BUG L500 Diesel Purifiers.  All the launches run well and without problems.

FISHING FLEETS

Fishing fleets and private fishing Launches in Latin America are slowly discovering the savings and benefits of DE-BUG. Those that have tested and bought DE-BUG Diesel Purifiers are smiling.

  • Engines run well
  • Filter changes are less
  • Boats have more power
  • PLUS they save 15% to 20% on fuel. This can amount to $200 + a 14 day trip and is increasing profitability.  Fishing boats from Puerto Caimito and Vacamonte have proven to their own satisfaction that engine efficiency has given 17% fuel saving.

VACAMONTE - Panama’s Main fishing port

Two shrimp fleets - one with 7 shrimp boats another with 12 shrimp boats - are fitted with DE-BUG diesel units.
