Exhaust Emissions
Emissions are an escalating issue. Diesel emissions are targeted.
The great black clouds of smoke from malfunctioning engines are bringing heavy fines. Finding a viable solution to emissions and black smoke is increasingly important.
Emission control is already being enforced in much of Latin America - Peru, Chile and Costa Rica among them. Considerable pressure is coming from WHO, through Swiss Contact, to reduce the health risks the emissions present. Panama is organising for tougher regulations and smaller countries, not already enforcing standards, are drafting regulations. The writing is on the wall. Management must tackle smoking vehicles or pay the price in fines.
Engine maintenance is of vital importance - and so is clean diesel!
The truth is that clean diesel fuel and diesel engines in top condition actually produce less emissions than gasoline and are better for the environment. They out perform unleaded gas and add to the viability of diesel.
One of the exciting benefits of DE-BUG Clean Diesel is that throughout the world astonishing emission reductions are being achieved. Although DE-BUG was designed to give Clean Diesel and engine protection, it has achieved impressive reduction of emissions, because it enables a better burn in the combustion chamber.
BLACK SMOKE DISAPPEARS!
Within a few minutes, as the carbon in the exhaust is eliminated, and the engine’s performance is visible, black smoke disappears. Most dramatic proof was on a small pick-up, called the ‘Fumigator’, at Petro Terminales in Bocas del Toro, Chiriqui, Republica de Panama. Puffing black smoke, it started a circuit of the yard, but completed the circuit -smoke free!
Emissions were reduced in Peru by -- % Vehicle emissions on a Mercedes Benz truck dropped from 78.1% opacity to 1.26% after a DE-BUG was fitted. Another company vehicle fined for emissions fitted a DE-BUG. Emissions dropped to .69%!
The vehicles were tested in a programme, conducted by SENATI, with USAID and Peruvian environmental groups. The company also conducted tests on the vehicle performance and found fuel savings of 10% and 12% in the first month’s use. This has since risen to 14%.

Environmental Concerns
There are sound reasons to be concerned about the black smoke that comes from sulfur rich contaminated diesel - especially if it is treated with biocides. Sulphur rich diesel contributes to acid rain and acidification of lakes and streams and it carries a special health hazard.
Most contaminants are absorbed onto soot. The carbon in emissions - PM - absorbs the contaminants in the emissions - sulfur dioxide, nitrous oxide, as well as the toxins in biocide. This is a health hazard, when soot is inhaled.
Reduction of soot leads to reduction of exposure to these contaminants. The presence of sulfur in the form of sulphates or sulphides increases contaminants on the soot. So do the toxins of additives and biocides.
Black smoke’s basic cause is incomplete combustion. Its root cause is contaminated diesel. Normal treatment is an engine overhaul and injector replacement to bring the engine to optimum condition. The fastest, cheapest solution is a DE-BUG diesel Purifier.
Even motors in poor condition achieve dramatic reduction of black smoke within minutes of being fitted. DE-BUG will not repair an engine, but it will improve combustion, lower emissions and eliminate black smoke. Blue or white smoke, indicators of serious engine’s defects may replace it, but smoke emissions will still reduce.
A prominent Latin American diesel engineer, specialising in emission control with Swiss Contact confirms this. His view: fitting a DE-BUG on the engine is the fastest and surest way to enable an engine to meet the new emission standards coming into force.
So to meet emission control and improve the air: The solution is DE-BUG.
